November 8, 2007 iPhone
Yesterday brother Bob called to see if it was my birthday. Today I got up at 8:30 and put my hearing enhancement device (HED) in earlier then usual and set it two clicks lower than the default level. I want to test settings for listening to music and podcasts on the iPhone with the earbuds and to use standard earphones with HED on. Went to Barnes and Noble to return a duplicated book and pick up two others by Michael Chabon, The Wonder Boys and The Yiddish Policemen's Union, on the way to Triple A to pick up the Sightseer, which has been winterized. I then went for a 38 minute walk while listening to James Taylor and Leo LaPorte. I then tried to listen to music with standard headphones. There was a squeal from the HED, but when I cranked the HED audio level down to the lowest possible level, the earphones worked quite well.

Tried to get the Gateway computer working by connecting it to one of the Ethernet ports on the airport extreme. Connected the Dell monitor from the XPR and turned on the Gateway computer (Pentium II 300 MHz). The keyboard, monitor, and mouse all worked fine. I got to a screen asking for root password but could get no further. I hope son Paul will help me at Thanksgiving time.
