September 8, 2007

It is Saturday night, September 8, 2007, 11:55 PM, so it is almost Sunday. I am not writing this entry on the iPhone but am writing it on the MacBook. Incidentally, the new iPod Touch does not seem to have a Notes program, nor does it seem to have mail. Guess I better stick with the iPhone. I had prepped some movies to put on my iPhone (or iPod) using the Handbrake program. It has a preset for iPods which I used. This created an mp3 file for the movie, a little over 1 gigabyte in size. I double clicked on the movie but it did not go into iTunes but opened up in QuickTime. So I then saved it from QuickTime as an m4v file which took forever, like 24 hours. When I got two movies onto the iPhone for both of them the sound was out of synch with the video. Very disturbing. I then tried importing the mp3 files directly into iTunes, I just selected import under the file menu and it went right into iTunes and did not have any audio/video synchronization problems. I was listening to TWIM today and one of their panel recommended a science fiction novel, Accelerando by Charles Straus. Maybe I should see if that is available on audible.com - also Bruce Sterling has written a novel I have not yet read, Schismatrix. I just read a long review of it in Wikipedia and it does not sound all that interesting.
