Yesterday, again, I had poor access to Charter internet and of course the new DSL modem from Earthlink has not arrived yet. I read the preface and the first two chapters of "Learning Together Online." I want to write an extended book review of this book and of "e-Learning and the Science of Instruction," for an article for the November, 2007 issue of Practical Update. Both books are ostensibly based on research but learning together takes a constructivist pov, while e-Learning utilizes research from a positivistic perspective.

Barbara tried to use the computer this morning, got partway through an online order she was placing and the cable connection dropped. She called Charter and after determining that the upstream channel power level was too low (its 14.0 now and then jumped to 58.0, then 52.0 dBmV). This metric can be accessed by going to http://192.168.100.1 and clicking on the green signal button.

Tomorrow should be a busy day. The cable tech is coming, the new DSL modem should be coming, and a landscaper is going to kill the lawn and errant grasses in preparation for installing a new lawn, with an improved walkway.
