Earthlink DSL modem arrived the 19th, I could not get it to work and called earthlink, they said DSL would be activated by midnight the 20th, so I quit trying until the 21st. Spent most of the day on the phone with Earthlink but no success. Finally, they said a local technician from Quest would come out on Saturday. At 9:30 today Matt came out and could not get the Earthlink modem working. He tried a Qwest modem which worked fine but Qwest would not sell me a modem as I had a contract with Eartlink. Finally Earthlink said they would send a replacement modem in two business days, so I guess that would be Wednesday, September 26.

On another front, the cable modem has been performing poorly - that was the reason I tried to get the DSL line. A Charter technician came out and said we should request another cable line, instead of splitting the line between the family room and the office. On Friday a technician came out and installed two new cable lines. One to the rec room and one to the office. It has improved Internet access somewhat, but is still off too much. In fact, the Internet was not available when I started to write this note on the iPhone.
