iPhoneNotes002
Greetings and salutations from an iPhone, Google Docs afficiado (spelling?). As stated earlier this blog is to act as a repository for my rambling writings or journals on the iPhone. However I am not creating this entry on the iPhone but am entering it directly into the Google Docs application with Firefox on the MacBook Pro. I wanted to try this new entry and then publish it to the blog and make certain that the process works OK before I attempt to create a document with Safari on the iPhone and publish that doc to the iPhone.
Another thought, I wonder if the students in my online course, could prepare their assignments using Google Docs and then email them to me. They would have to include identifying information at the top of the document so I knew who it was coming from and also which assignment it purports to be. To check that out, I will try emailing this document to myself so that I can see if it works (as well as posting it to my blog). In the current version of my online course, Ed 603 Educational Research Methods, 2 credits, Fall Semester 2007 at Minnesota State University Moorhead, I am using a series of podcasts for the course. The 20-30 minute podcasts each review a current research article in education, educational psychology, or educational technology, and then follow the review with a brief discussion of a concept or point in educational research methods. For each week there is an assignment to complete and submit to the instructor (me). The submitted assignments are then posted to an assignment web page for instructor and peer review. The student's full name is not posted and I add my comments to their assignment in a green font so that it is differentiated from their assignment. So if this works out I might recommend that students who do not have access to Word, use GoogleDocs to complete their assignments and submit them to the instructor.
Well I was able to get to google.docs with safari on the iPhone. However when I opened a new google docs page, i could not get the keyboard on the iPhone to come up, thus I could not add any text to the page. I am adding this text to the page on the MacBook Pro. I guess when the iPhone says it is a closed system, it really is a closed system.
