August 27, 2007
When I got up at 7:00 it was 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Looks like it will be a cool day to visit Crater Lake and to hike up Mount Scott. At 10:00 we left the campground and made our way to Crater Lake National Park. Magnificent views as we entered the park from the North and arrived for lunch at Crater Lake Lodge. Barbara had the spicey salmon wrap and I had the Northwest fish and chips. That should prepare us sufficiently for our Mount Scott hike. Got to Mount Scott trailhead and started up at 1:38. Turned around at 2:38, rested for 15 minutes while sending email on the iPhone and returned to trail head. We completed our trip around the rim road and then headed to an RV campground North of Crater Lake on Diamond Lake. We wanted to see if it would be a suitable place to stay for a future trip to the area. It looked just fine. We got back to the RV and Chobe was glad to see us. So ends the day we hiked partway up Mount Scott. We took some nice pictures and I will let you know where they are posted on the web.
